John Anson's Biography



John Anson, Vice President, Biomarker Discovery, Oxford Gene Technology

Dr John Anson is Vice President of Biomarker Discovery at Oxford Gene Technology (OGT). In this role he has full responsibility for the development and commercialisation of biomarker discovery programmes at OGT. These encompass the use of a proprietary protein array technology recently acquired through Sense Proteomic, as well as genomic biomarker discovery using DNA microarrays. Prior to joining OGT in 2006, Dr Anson worked for 17 years at GE Healthcare (previously Amersham plc). Here he held the position of Head of Product Development at their Cardiff facility, where he was responsible for the development of a number of industry-leading products.  Previous roles within Amersham included VP Pharmacogenomics and VP Business Development.

This presentation will highlight the potential importance of autoantibodies as biomarkers for early disease detection, companion diagnostics and monitoring of immunotherapy. A novel array based screening platform for discovering panels of disease-specific antigens to detect this response will also be discussed.
