S D Deshpande, Emeritus Scientist & Ex-Head, ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering

Dr. Deshpande has held various scientific positions over last 38 years in food processing/food engineering especially food storage, handling, packaging, fruits/vegetable, cereal, pulses, oilseeds and millet processing. He had two patents, over 90 publications in national/international journals, presented over 100 papers in conferences, wrote 12 book-chapters, published 2 books and 13 bulletins, developed 21 machines/equipment/technologies, organized various transfer of technology programmes/trainings on food processing/value addition and loss prevention and 10 international assignments abroad on food processing. He has also contributed chapters in World Encyclopedia of Food Sciences and Nutrition, UK apart from consultancy assignment with World Bankto USA and Govt. of India Technical Consultant (as President of India’s Nominee) to Dakar, Govt. of Senegal. He is presently Advisor on the Scientific Panel of Food Standards Safety Authority & Regulations and Bureau of Indian Standards, Govt. of India. He is in the editorial board and reviewer for national/international journals, Vice President Nutrition Society of India Bhopal chapter and Life Member of Association of Food Scientists & Technologists, Indian Society of Agril. Engineers and American Society of Agril. Engineers.
