Yann studied Chemistry, Maths and Physics for 2 years at the University of Luminy in Marseille (France) before focusing on Chemistry for the next two years finishing first of his Masters in 2001. He then joined the prestigious “Ecole d’Ingénieur de Chimie de Montpellier” where he specialised in Organic Chemistry resulting in two Masters: Organic Chemistry and Medicinal/BioChemistry in 2003 Yann worked at Repsol in Spain for a short time and then in Paris at the CEA (Research Institute on Nuclear Energy), before joining Pfizer in Sandwich, UK in 2004. At Pfizer, Yann worked as a Medicinal chemist for 4 years in the Discovery department and also had the opportunity to spend a year in Process Development. In 2009, Yann had a career change and moved to Syrris initially as a technical specialist and moved very rapidly into a commercial role. Yann is now Regional Director of Europe and China.

Microfluidics is now established as a multidisciplinary field covering numerous applications in engineering, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, clinical diagnostics, nanotechnology and biotechnology. A significant challenge that remains is to overcome the prohibitive cost and timescales to obtain a device prototype. This talk presents a novel system utilising 3D printing technology, Dolomite’s Fluidic Factory, which overcomes these challenges and allows rapid prototyping of micro- and milli- fluidic devices and components.
