Balaji Panchapakesan's Biography

Balaji Panchapakesan, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)

Dr. Panchapakesan is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). His laboratory specializes in developing materials and tools at the interface of micro and nanotechnology for capture of CTCs. He has developed nanotube devices for capture of breast cancer cells in blood and buffy coats with single cell sensitivity. His current research is enabling nanotube devices for capture and analysis of cell-derived vesicles, and enabling newer technologies such as nanotube micro-arrays with microfluidics for continuous isolation of CTCs.
