Frank Gesellchen's Biography

Frank Gesellchen, Senior Scientist, Sphere Fluidics

Frank graduated from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology. During his PhD he worked at the German Cancer Research Centre on Protein Kinase A and cyclic AMP signalling. He continued his work on protein kinases and cell signalling as a postdoc at the University of Kassel, Germany and the University of Glasgow. In Glasgow, he became interested in the use of acoustics and microfluidics for biological applications and successfully worked on EPSRC-funded projects for the development of lab-on-chip devices at the Centre for Cell Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Research Division.

Frank joined Sphere Fluidics in 2015 as a Senior Scientist. He is part of the Research & Development team for Sphere Fluidics’ Cyto-Mine® System and is currently leading a project that adapts Sphere Fluidics’ picodroplet technology for cell engineering applications.
