Akshay Kale's Biography



Akshay Kale, Research Fellow, University of Leeds

Dr. Akshay Kale earned his PhD from Clemson University, SC, USA, and is currently a research fellow in the School of Electronic and Electrical engineering at the University of Leeds, UK. His research interests lie in developing low-cost and portable lab on a chip systems for healthcare applications. He is presently working on the characterization of a high throughput, minimally invasive system for dielectrophoretic enrichment of stem cells, using surface acoustic wave microfluidics.

This work focuses on an in-depth characterization a novel microfluidic device employing remote dielectrophoresis (DEP) induced via shear surface acoustic waves (SH-SAWs), with the help of an experimentally verified, first of its kind, comprehensive 3D finite element mathematical model.
