Dominik Scherrer's Biography



Dominik Scherrer, Researcher, University of Basel and IBM Research Zurich

Dominik Scherrer was born in Liestal (Switzerland) and received his master's degree in chemistry from the University of Zurich under the supervision of Professor Roger Alberto and Dr. Craig Richmond. Since 2017, he is pursuing his Ph.D. studies at the University of Basel (Professor Christof Sparr) and at the IBM Research Laboratory in Zurich (Dr. Emanuel Lörtscher) studying chip-based flow microreactors for chemical synthesis.

Microfabrication is used to engineer silicon microfluidics as wall-coated flow reactors for heterogeneous catalysis and integrated modules for site-selective surface functionalization and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) to characterize molecular monolayers.
