Niek Maas's Biography

Niek Maas, Clinical Researcher, University Medical Center Utrecht

Niek Maas MD, is a pathology resident in the department of pathology of the UMC Utrecht, The Netherlands. Before his residency, Niek Maas worked on a PhD research project performed in both the UMC Utrecht and the Department of Neurology of the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA. This project focused on the investigation of the role of glioblastoma derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the tumor’s microenvironment. The interaction between glioblastoma cells and cells from the innate immune system were investigated both in vitro and in vivo. For this project novel EV characterization tools were developed and evaluated.
