Brendan Price's Biography

Brendan Price, Division of Genome Stability and DNA Repair, Dana Farber Cancer Institute

Dr Price obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK. He carried out postdoctoral studies at the University of Glasgow, Scotland and at the Institute for Cancer Research in London. Currently, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where his lab studies DNA damage signaling. His current work is focused on understanding how chromatin structure affects the ability of cells to detect and repair DNA damage.

DNA repair requires remodeling of the local chromatin architecture. Chromatin remodeling at sites of DNA damage requires both dynamic regulation of histone modifications and exchange of histone variants. These epigenetic changes then function together to direct assembly of a chromatin template which is an efficient substrate for the DNA repair machinery.
