Jacques Cote's Biography

Jacques Cote, Professor, Laval University

I obtained my PhD in Molecular Biology at Laval University for the purification and cloning of Endonuclease G. I started working in the chromatin field in 1993 during my post-doctoral training in Jerry Workman's lab at PennState, initially focusing on SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes. As an independent investigator since 1997 at Laval University Cancer Research Center, my focus moved onto histone acetyltransferase complexes. My lab has been characterizing structurally and functionally histone acetyltransferase complexes from yeast and human cells and how they coordinate with epigenetic events. Our research projects currently bring us to study not only chromatin modifications linked to gene regulation but also links with genome stability and tumor suppressor activity.

I will present our recent work on human histone acetyltransferase complexes and how cross-talks between histone marks occurs through different subunits of these complexes to regulate gene expression, genome stability and cell fate.
