Alexander Gross's Biography

Alexander Gross, , Technische Universitat Ilmenau

After my diploma certificate for organic chemistry from the TU-Darmstadt I accomplished my PhD thesis at Merck Darmstadt focusing on “Robotic and Miniaturized Combinatorial Chemistry”. Finally I received my PhD degree from the University of Vienna. I continued the PhD research on automated combinatorial chemistry as Postdoc at medicinal chemistry research facilities of Merck in Darmstadt. Subsequently I changed to the TU-Ilmenau where I start my current academic career focusing on micro reaction technologies such as: droplet-based micro fluidics, new functional devices and flow-chemistry.

The presentation will focus on flow-chemistry techniques which were applied for the formation and characterization of supported Au(0)-catalysts. Fluidic techniques were applied for both: the synthesis of colloidal nanoparticles for support impregnation as well as the kinetic- and reactive analysis of the received catalysts.
