Christian Amatore's Biography

Christian Amatore, Professor, Ecole Normale Superieure

With the pioneering of ultramicroelectrodes Christian Amatore provided electrochemists with instrumental and conceptual means enabling them to tackle with important problems in organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry or nanosciences. His recent works deal with the very frontier of molecular electrochemistry and biology. Through the use of the concept of “artificial synapses”, he undertook the careful study of neurotransmission or oxidative stress at the level of single cells. He is Fellow of the French Academy of Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the RSC and of the Chines Chemical Society.
