Ann Feeney's Biography

Ann Feeney, Professor, The Scripps Research Institute

Ann Feeney is a Professor at The Scripps Research Institute in the Department of Immunology and Microbial Science. She demonstrated several years ago that VH and V? genes are used very unequally in the immunoglobulin (Ig) repertoire, and her lab has been investigating the factors that result in this unequal V gene utilization. Using RNA-seq, her lab published the first compilation of all noncoding RNA throughout the Igh and Ig? immunoglobulin loci. Her lab was the first to map the binding sites of CTCF and cohesin in the Ig loci and to study the role of these CTCF sites in creating long-range looping interactions within the loci that establish the 3D architecture of the loci necessary to generate a diverse antibody repertoire. Using her ChIP-seq data on epigenetic landscapes and binding sites of many key transcription factors, coupled with the RNA-seq data, she has been studying the influence of these parameters on unequal V gene utilization in the Ig repertoire.
