Torben Orntoft, Professor, Aarhus University Hospital

Professor Torben F. Orntoft is head of the Dept of molecular medicine at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. He is an MD specialized in Clinical Biochemistry and apart from diagnostic responsibilities for genomic diseases, he is heading a large research group that works within bladder, colon and prostate cancer. He has focused on genomic and transcriptomic alterations in cancer and was pioneering microarray technology in Europe some years ago for identification of cancer signatures. He has recently published on epigenomic alterations in cancer, and after forming a bioinformatics group he is now addressing NGS data from cancers, studying mainly mechanisms of aggressiveness. He has published din journals like Nature, NEJM, Cancer Cell, Nature Genetics, Blood etc, and has been cited more than 9000 times.
