John Masters's Biography



John Masters, Professor, University College London

John Masters is Professor of Experimental Pathology at UCL and Editor-in-Chief of Cell Biology and Toxicology and has edited 7 volumes of Human Cell Culture (Springer). He chaired an ATCC Standard Development Committee developing a standard using STR profiling for the authentication of human cell lines, which in January 2012 became accredited by ANSI (American National Standards Institute).

It has been claimed recently that tissue-differentiated stem cells provide a better screening model for new agents than cancer cell lines derived from the tissues of interest. The relative merits of the two screening systems will be compared.
