Bernhard Kuster graduated from the University of Cologne in 1994 with an MSc in chemistry. He obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford in 1997 and spent his PostDoc years with Matthias Mann at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (Heidelberg, Germany) and at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense, Denmark). Between 2000 and 2007, Dr Kuster worked for the biotechnology firm Cellzome (Heidelberg, Germany) where he held several positions including that of Vice President of Analytical Sciences and Informatics. In 2007, he was appointed Full Professor and Chair of Proteomics and Bioanalytics at the Technische Universität München (TUM, Germany). He currently is also the Head of the Department for Biosciences at the TUM and a co-founder and co-director of the Bavarian Center for Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry (BayBioMS). Dr. Kuster is a member of editorial and scientific advisory boards of several journals, university institutes and companies. His current research interests are broad and include functional proteomics, chemical biology and cancer drug and biomarker discovery.
