Sara Zanivan's Biography

Sara Zanivan, Group Leader, Beatson Institute for Cancer Research

Sara Zanivan studied biology at the University of Turin and she obtained her PhD at the Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, Candiolo, Italy (1999-2007). Sara focused her studies on cell adhesion in angiogenesis and bioinformatics.
In May 2007 she moved to the Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany, to join the Matthias Mann group as a post-doctoral fellow. Here she led the in vivo SILAC mouse efforts and applied high-accuracy mass spectrometry and SILAC to study tumor progression and angiogenesis.
In November 2010 she moved to the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Glasgow, UK, as junior Group Leader of the “Vascular Proteomics” group. Her research interests focus on better understanding the complexity of the molecular mechanisms regulating angiogenesis in cancer using quantitative proteomic approach.
