Andreas Traube's Biography

Andreas Traube, Head of Department, Laboratory Automation and Biomanufacturing Engineering Fraunhofer IPA

Andreas Traube was trained as a mechanical engineer and has a long lasting experience in the field of life science automation and in management of interdisciplinary scientific teams. Since 2012 he is leading the Department of Laboratory Automation and Biomanufacturing Engineering at Fraunhofer IPA. In more than 20 different projects in laboratory automation he successfully transferred scientific results into industrial application. Andreas headed large projects in cell culture automation, including the »Tissue Factory« for the large scale production of human 3D tissue models as well as an automated platform for the cultivation, analysis and sorting of different cell types. His passion is to find smart technical and applied solutions for optimal workflows in life sciences. He is one of the co-inventors of the I-DOT technology, a novel liquid handling technology enabling an efficient, flexible alternative non-contact solution for liquid handling tasks for nano- to microliter volumes including cell dispension. As a co-founder of Dispendix Andreas now introduces this technology into the market.
