Karol Kozak's Biography

Karol Kozak, Head, ETH Zurich

Karol Kozak has been influential in the development of data handling and data mining tools for High Throughput, High Content Screening (HCS) over the few years at Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetic in Dresden (Germany) and ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Currently, he is in charge of Bioinformatics section of LMC-RISC at ETH Zurich. He plays a leading role in defining the strategy for organizing management large scale biological data. In addition, during PhD time Karol Kozak became an expert in statistical pattern recognition applied to large scale screening data.

Because not all siRNAs that are developed to a given target mRNA are equally effective, design tools have been developed based on experimental data to increase the knock-down efficiency of siRNAs. On this talk bioinformatics approach to validate design of siRNA libraries will be presented. New methods for better siRNA sequences will be proposed.
