Dhavendra Kumar, Professor, Genomic Policy Unit, University of South Wales & Institute of Medical Genetics, Cardiff University School of Medicine

Professor Kumar’s special interests is in clinical genetics include clinical cardiovascular genetics (inherited conditions of heart and blood vessels), genomic medicine and genomic applications in medicine and global healthcare. He has authored/edited many textbooks and monographs in the field of clinical genetics, cardiovascular genetics and genomic medicine & healthcare. He is passionate for raising awareness and promoting importance of inherited cardiovascular conditions (ICC) in clinical cardiology and genetic medicine. He is acknowledged with the benchmark practice of ‘multi-disciplinary care for inherited/familial heart diseases’. He founded and leads the ‘Global Familial Heart Challenge’ project for identification and detection of preventable familial heart diseases globally. He is one of the founding members of the Association for Inherited Cardiac Conditions (AICC) and serves on the British Heart Foundation led national steering group for ICC. He founded and leads the Genomic Medicine Foundation (UK) as a registered ‘not for profit’ voluntary organization.
