Tim Meyer's Biography



Tim Meyer, Senior Lecturer, University College London

Tim Meyer is a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology based at UCL Cancer Institute, London. He qualified in Medicine from UCL in 1985 and obtained a PhD from London University in 1999. His main clinical focus is Hepatobiliary (HPB) and Neuroendocrine Cancer and he directs a large portfolio of clinical trials in these tumour types. He is also Director of the UCLH/UCL Cancer Clinical Research Facility and the UCL Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre. He sits on the UK NIHR Clinical Specialty Groups for HPB and Neuroendocrine Cancer and is Chairman of the TRANSNET Committee which coordinates a national program in translational research for neuroendocrine tumours.

Neuroendocrine tumours have recently been shown to have high expression of EPCAM and many patients have detectable circulating tumour cells. Data will be presented demonstrating the prognostic and predictive relevance of CTCs in this tumour type.
