Ashis Sen's Biography



Ashis Sen, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Currently, Dr. Ashis Kumar Sen is an Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras. He received his PhD degree from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, USA, where he also received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Mechanical Engineering for the year 2007. During 2009-2010, he did post-doctoral research at the University of Southampton, UK and during 2008-2009, he worked as a Senior Microfluidics Engineer at Epigem Ltd., UK. Previously, he received his ME degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003 and BE from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 2000. During 2003-2004, he worked as a Thermal Engineer at Applied Thermal Technologies-India, Pune. Dr. Sen has received the DAAD (German Academic Exchange) Fellowship and visited TU-Darmstadt, Germany during May-July 2012. He is a life member of ASME and the Indian Society of Smart Materials and Structures and his current research interests are microfluidics and lab-on-chip.
