Dr Julian L. Griffin is a Royal Society University Research Fellow at the Department of
Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, UK. He gained his doctorate from the University of
Oxford after studying in the laboratory of Professor George Radda. Following this he held
Postdoctoral posts as a Harvard and Massachusetts General Hospital Fellow in Radiology and as a research associate at Imperial College London. His research group is currently developing NMR and mass spectrometry based metabolomics as a tool for following the
progression and treatment of multifactorial diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

We have been using a comprehensive screen of core metabolism in C.elegans to understand the role fatty acid desaturases play in regulating global metabolism and how this technology represents a step-change to the C.elegans research community.
