Sofia Dembski's Biography

Sofia Dembski, Researcher, Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research

Sofia Dembski received her PhD in chemistry in 2007 from the University of Wuerzburg (Germany) for her thesis on synthesis and characterization of II-VI semiconductor nanoparticles in selected environments. She then joined the competence unit “Particle Technology and Interfaces” at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research in Wuerzburg as a scientist and project manager. Her research interests focus on the development of luminescent nanoparticles for various applications especially in biotechnology and medicine. Her work includes the synthesis, characterization, surface modification and biofunctionalization of luminescent nanoparticles.
