Katherine Hollywood's Biography

Katherine Hollywood, Research Associate, Manchester University

I am currently a PDRA employed on a BBSRC Bioprocessing Research Industry Club (BRIC) funded project implementing the application of single cell metabolite profiling to the optimisation of stem cell bioprocessing. The project aims to use single cell imaging techniques including SIMS, MALDI-MS & Raman spectroscopy to define the metabolic profile that is characteristic of stem cells progressing towards distinct cellular fates and profiles that are indicative of cells at different stages of differentiation. I have been working in the fields of metabolomics and spectroscopy for 10 years and have been responsible for the analysis of a wide range of biological samples of clinical interest. I am currently greatly interested in the development of single cell technologies and in particular their potential use in studying drug uptake mechanisms.
