Andrea Trabocchi's Biography



Andrea Trabocchi, Assistant Professor, University of Florence

Andrea Trabocchi is Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Florence, Italy, where his research is focused in the area of diversity-oriented synthesis and peptidomimetic chemistry. He is also involved in molecular imaging projects, and medicinal chemistry issues concerning peptidomimetic ligands of integrins and protease inhibitors of HIV and Candida albicans. He obtained a PhD in Chemical Sciences in 2003 from the University of Florence, and received training on peptide chemistry at the Imperial College, UK from Prof. Leatherbarrow. He published about 50 papers and filed 4 patents. Also, he recently edited a book about Diversity Oriented Synthesis and authored a book on Peptidomimetics.

Diversity-Oriented Synthesis of peptidomimetics is a novel approach to generate structurally diverse compounds addressing protein-protein interactions, combined to chemical genetics as a tool in chemical biology for selecting small molecules in phenotypic screening and target identification.
