SELECTBIO Conferences Targeting Protein-Protein Interactions

Tomasz Cierpicki's Biography

Tomasz Cierpicki, Assistant Professor, University of Michigan

Tomasz Cierpicki is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan. He is currently an American Cancer Society Research Scholar. His scientific interest is in structure-function studies of cancer-related proteins and development of small molecule inhibitors of protein-protein interactions relevant to cancer. Using structural NMR and X-ray crystallography his lab is working on understand the interaction of small molecules with protein targets to efficiently develop potent inhibitors of protein-protein interactions. Most recent focus of his lab is development of small molecules targeting menin-MLL in leukemia.

In this presentation we will discuss development of potent small molecules inhibiting the protein-protein interaction between menin and MLL. These inhibitors demonstrate very potent and specific effects in targeting oncogenic activity of MLL fusion proteins in leukemia.
