Dr. Arijit Mukhopadhyay has done his PhD in Human Genetics from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata in 2004. He was selected for prestigious Marie-Curie post-doctoral fellowship and spent three years in UMCN Nijmegen, The Netherlands before returning to India as a faculty member of CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi in August 2007. Dr. Mukhopadhyay has more than 40 peer-reviewed publications from his work on several genetic disorders like, Glaucoma, Oculo-cutaneous albinism, population genetics, Hemophilia, Wilson disease, Vitreoretinopathy etc. His current research interests include role of genomic structural variation in complex diseases, non-coding RNA in cancer and somatic variation in human brain. He is also the academic coordinator for the PhD program at CSIR-IGIB.
