Tapas Das, Scientific Officer, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre

Dr. Tapas Das is presently working as a Scientific Officer, ‘F’ in the Radiopharmaceuticals Chemistry Section of Radiochemistry and Isotope Group, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. He had joined DAE in 1998 after completing his post-graduation in Chemistry and one year Orientation Course in Nuclear Science and Engineering. He had obtained Ph.D. from University of Mumbai in 2004 for his studies on radiopharmaceutical sciences. His research field of interest includes production of radioisotopes and development of radiopharmaceuticals. He has developed and initiated clinical studies of several potential radiopharmaceuticals/freeze-dried kits such as, 177Lu-DOTA-TATE, ready-to-use 177Lu-EDTMP, 170Tm-EDTMP, EDTMP cold kit, DOTA-TATE cold kit. Dr. Das has received several awards such as, Prof. H.J. Arnikar Best Thesis Award, DAE Young Scientist Award, DAE Group Achievement Award and Tarun Datta Memorial Young Scientist Award. He has served as Technical Co-operation Expert of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Republic of Korea and Republic of Kazakhstan. He also serves as an ‘Assistant Professor’ and is a recognized Ph.D. guide of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. He has more than 60 publications in various peer-reviewed international journals. He is the editorial board member of the journal ‘BioMed Research International’.
