Alberto Bresciani's Biography



Alberto Bresciani, Head of Screening Technologies, IRBM Science Park SpA

Alberto Bresciani is the head of the compound management and screening at the "Italian national compound collection and screening center". Dr. Bresciani sits in the General Committee of the European Laboratory Robotics Interest Group (ELRIG) and is a member of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS). He obtained his MD at the University of Milano Biococca. Dr Before joining IRBM Science Park, Dr. Bresciani was Researcher at Primm (Milan, Italy) where he set up an automated molecular biology facility for the production of antibodies libraries. After this experience he moved to Merck & Co. Inc. where he led the automated lead optimization group at the Italian site of the Merck research Laboratories. In 2010, he was a member of the scientific core who drove the startup of IRBM Science Park (Rome, Italy) where Dr. Bresciani currently leads the group in charge of the high throughput screenings, compound management and cell imaging.

The interconnection between library synthesis, quality control, assay design and target focus is commonly under-evaluated in HTS. This presentation will show how a flexible "compound to assay" approach can drive the success of HTS in a public-private enterprise.
