Stefan Lobbecke's Biography

Stefan Lobbecke, Head of Department, Energetic Materials, Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology

Dr. Stefan Loebbecke studied Chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany and the Philipps University of Marburg, Germany.
He received a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Marburg.
In 1993 he joined the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the leading organization for applied research in Europe. He began his career at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology ICT in Pfinztal, Germany, where he became head of the Chemical Engineering Group. Here, he was responsible for the development of new process technologies (in particular continuous processes, microreaction technology) and appropriate process analytical techniques for the production of energetic materials on a scale ranging from laboratory to production standards.
Today, Stefan Loebbecke is the director of the »Energetic Materials« department at Fraunhofer ICT. With its 90 staff members, the department provides a wide range of R+D services in chemistry, chemical engineering and explosive technologies. His current research interests comprise new reaction technologies, real-time process analysis, process safety, and research on advanced materials.
