John Rice's Biography

John Rice, Senior Research Scientist, Brandeis University

John Rice is a Visiting Research Scientist at the laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics and Global Health at Brandeis University. He received his M.S. at Texas A&M University (1996) in Genetics and B.S. at University of Massachusetts at Boston (1984) in Biology. He and his laboratory colleagues with industrial partners invented and patented a suite of technologies at Brandeis University. These technologies (such as LATE-PCR™, PrimeSafe™, ThermaLight Probes™) provide a unique platform for the construction of highly informative, very sensitive molecular diagnostic assays for genetic variations that influence infectious diseases, cancer, and many other applications.
