Wendy Dittmer's Biography



Wendy Dittmer, Principal Scientist, Philips Research

Dr. Dittmer received her PhD in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley in the area of nanodevices. She continued her research in the field of nanoscience as an Alexander van Humboldt Fellow at the University of Munich investigating aptamer-based sensors. Since 2005, Dr. Dittmer has been a principal researcher at Philips Electronics’ central corporate research labs specializing in the areas of novel biosensors and in vitro diagnostics.

We present a handheld integrated testing technology that is able to perform a multiplex of sensitive, high performance quantitative assays in parallel from a single finger-prick sample. The recently developed biosensor employs precisely actuated magnetic particles and a compact optical imagining technique.
