Dr. Elde did his masters and Ph.D. at the University of Tromsø, Norway, which he completed in 1999. He then worked as a post-doc at the Biochemical Institute, University of Giessen, Germany, for almost two years. Since 2002 he has worked as a research manager at Biotec Pharmacon. In 2009 Biotec Pharmacon moved its enzyme business into a new subsidiary, called ArcticZymes, where Dr. Elde now work as the Head of Application Development. ArcticZymes develop, produces and sell unique, cold-adapted enzymes for use in research and diagnostics.

In qPCR and Next-Generation-Sequencing the final results are dependent on the quality of the sample used in the reaction. In this presentation we will discuss how the use of heat-labile enzymes in sample preparations before qPCR and Next-Generation-Sequencing can improve efficiency and give reliable results.
