Kenneth Henry's Biography

Kenneth Henry, Senior Research Scientist, JSR Micro, Inc.

Dr. Henry began his career receiving a PhD in Genetics at Case Western Reserve University under the guidance of Professor Sandra Lemmon focusing on vesicular trafficking. Following his reception of his doctorate, Dr. Henry worked with Dr. Dean Hamer at the National Institutes of Health developing microbiocides for HIV-1. Advancing his career in HIV-1 research, Dr. Henry worked with a team of researchers from Diagnostic Hybrids Inc. and Dr. Eric Arts laboratory at Case Western Reserve University to develop a HIV-1 Drug Resistance diagnostics. Leaving Case Western Reserve University in 2011, Dr Henry joined the Life Science team at JSR Micro Inc. as a Senior Research Scientist. Utilizing knowledge learned from HIV-1 virions isolation, vesicular trafficking, and RNA isolation techniques, Dr Kenneth Henry is now furthering research and kit development in the realm of exosome and RNA isolation at JSR Micro Inc.

In order to isolate exosomes from various body fluids and cell culture supernatants, we have successfully developed ExoCapTM Isolation Kits, which utilizes a magnetic beads based isolation method. ExoCap consists of magnetic particles coupled with antibodies that recognize antigens on the exosome surface, a diluent/ washing solution, and a reagent that releases the captured intact exosomes for analysis. The antibodies against CD9, CD63, CD81, and EpCAM were specifically selected for this kit.  ExoCap can easily and rapidly separate exosomes within 30 minutes, without an ultracentrifuge or any special equipment.  In exosome rich samples, as little as 100 ┬ÁL is a sufficient sample volume for the isolation of exosomes that are compatible with various downstream analysis such as western blots RT-qPCR or electron microscopy. ExoCap allows the enrichment of a pure population of specific exosomes based upon target antigen.
