Andrew Mitchell's Biography

Andrew Mitchell, HTE Specialist, Unilever Research

Andy Mitchell started working with high throughput technologies soon after joining Unilever in the mid 90s, developing microbiological assays. Following the creation of a dedicated HT capability in Unilever, he then moved full time into the High Throughput Experimentation Group, focussing on consolidating automation across the R&D site as well as building a coherent data management system to capture data from these HT platforms. His role in HT experimentation then evolved to incorporate not just the IT infrastructure, but also the experimental data where he led the evolution of Unilever’s bespoke data management system for data captured from automated platforms as well as standalone instruments. More recently he has also led the Unilever team managing the build of their portfolio of bespoke platforms, whilst in parallel extending the breadth of the ‘High Throughput Operating System’ to encompass additional instrumentation.
