Kamalinder Singh, Professor, University of Central Lancashire

Dr. K.K. Singh is presently working as Principal & Professor of Pharmaceutics at C.U.Shah College of Pharmacy, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. She has 29 years of teaching and research experience. She is member- Senate, member- Academic Council, Member - BCUD and Chairperson, Ad-hoc Board in Pharmacy of S.N.D.T Women’s University. She is also the Chief co-ordinator of Industry Institute Partnership Cell sponsored by AICTE and Co-ordinator of Special Assistance Programme, UGC. She is recognized research guide for Ph.D. students and has supervised more than 45 M.Pharm. and 10 Ph.D students and currently a team of 16 students is registered with her including 8 PhD scholars.

Dr. Singh is an invited Member on International Steering Committee for “Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients”, a joint publication by American Pharmaceutical Association and Pharmaceutical Press, Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. She has contributed 5 new monographs to the 5th , 10 monographs for the 6th and 15 monographs to the 7th edition of the book. She has 4 book chapters, 47 research publications and presented more than 250 research papers at various national and international conferences in India and abroad. Based on her research work she has filed 13 patents out of which one US and three Indian patents have been granted.

Dr Singh has extensive research experience in the field of Pharmaceutical Nanoscience and nanoparticle design for drug delivery. Research efforts of her group focus on drug delivery systems, nanoemulsions, lipid nanostructures, nanosuspensions, microspheres, long acting parenterals as well as surface functionalisation These drug delivery methods are being applied to a variety of diseases including cancer, dermatological conditions and infectious diseases. Various nanotechnologies have used alone or in combination to prepare mixed nano-systems for delivery of single drug or co-delivery of muti agents. She has also applied these technologies to herbal drugs and actively involved in development of novel herbal drug delivery systems.

Dr. Singh has been bestowed the State Teacher Award 2010-2011 by Maharashtra Government in the category of Engineering and Pharmacy Teachers. She is recipient of distinguished “Manju Pal Best Pharmaceutical Scientist Award 2012” and “Pharmacy Teacher of the year Award 2008”, for outstanding contribution to pharmacy education and research, National awards given by the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) and has also received “Outstanding Herbal Formulator” award at The International Seminar on Medicinal Plants and Herbal Products organized by Aromatic Plants Board co-organized by S.V. University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, March, 2008. Dr. Singh has been honoured with the ‘Excellence in performance award’ and felicitated by SNDT Women’s University in 2002. She has been awarded the Dr. R. L. Nicore award.

She has recipient of several research grants from Government agencies like AICTE, UGC, BRNS (DAE), DBT as well as from pharmaceutical industries. She has been actively collaborating with Government and National institutes like National AIDS Research Institute, Pune and ACTRECT, Mumbai within and outside India including Germany, Japan and Finland.

Dr. Singh has chaired Scientific Sessions in various national and international conferences and has been invited speaker and resource person for International Symposium, Seminars and QIP programs. She has organized several workshops and seminars and been active member on Organizing and Scientific Committees of various international symposium and conferences. She is widely travelled person in India, European Countries, South Korea Japan and USA.

Dr. Singh is member of various professional bodies ISTE, IPA, APTI, AAPS and. CRS. She is presently on the Executive Committee, Vice President and Scientific Chair of Indian Chapter of Controlled Release Society and Vice- chai
