Z Fan, Professor, University of Florida

Dr. Z. Hugh Fan is a UF Research Foundation professor in the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Chemistry at the University of Florida (UF). Prior to this position, he was a Principal Scientist at ACLARA BioSciences Inc. and a Member of the Technical Staff at Sarnoff Corp. Dr. Fan is a recipient of Fraunhofer-Bessel Award from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), E.T.S. Walton Award from Science Foundation Ireland, and Career Award from National Institute of Health (US).

The key is to integrate microfluidics with aptamers for CTC sorting.  The majority of the existing efforts in the literature are using antibody for enrichment of CTC.
