Ashok Sinha, Technical Applications Specialist, Dolomite Microfluidics

Dr. Ashok Sinha is presently the Technical Applications Specialist at Dolomite Microfluidics, UK. Dr. Sinha received his undergraduate degree from Visvesvaraiah University, Bangalore (2002), MS in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from University of Illinois, Chicago (2004), and his PhD in Engineering Science & Mechanics from Virginia Tech (2008). Part of his PhD dissertation was filed as a US patent for a rapid mixing strategy (2007). He had a short stint as a research scientist at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (2002), followed by a brief position at Alstom Power (2003) in Switzerland. He later held a postdoctoral position at the Center for Smart Interfaces in Darmstadt (DFG funded cluster of excellence), Germany (2009 – 2012).

Dr. Sinha received the Graduate Research and Development project grant from Virginia Tech Graduate Student Assembly (2006), the Pratt Fellowship at the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics (2006 and 2007). Through his scientific career, Dr. Sinha has authored significant peer reviewed journal publications, written book chapters, as well as presented at international conferences. He has delivered lectures on Fundamentals of fluid mechanics at Virgnia Tech (2008), and on Nano and Microfluidics (2009, 2010, 2011). Dr. Sinha was also the appointed Engineering Representative to the Virginia Tech Student Budget Board (2005-2006), as well as the founder for the Post-Doc and PhD committee at the Center for Smart Interfaces in Darmstadt (2011-2012).

He has a diverse international experience, and has worked specifically in developing microelectromechanical systems in India, US, Switzerland, Germany and now in the UK, and working on their commercialization. Currently at Dolomite, his role uses a combination of his solid scientific background applied to driving microfluidic based innovation. Presently interfacing between technical marketing and the product development team, he helps liaison between industry demand and product development, and vice versa. Commercialization of biochemical sensors, diagnostic kits, drug delivery methods and general lab on a chip powered technology are currently the focus of his efforts.

Dolomite is the leading global provider of microfluidic solutions with a strong presence in the US, EU and Asia.
