SELECTBIO Conferences Academic Screening Workshop 2013

Eugen Buehler's Biography

Eugen Buehler, Group Leader, NIH Chemical Genomics Center

Gene Buehler develops methods for analyzing high-throughput RNAi screening data at the NIH. Much of his research centers around RNAi off-target effects: how to avoid them (or whether they can be avoided), how to detect them (both in large screens and in bench-level experiments), and finally how to exploit them to identify real underlying pathway members. He earned his bachelors in Physics from NCSU, his PhD in Computer Science from Penn, and is completely comfortable writing about himself in the third person.

We will describe our efforts to implement a screening pipeline that accounts for and leverages seed based  off-target effects, from library design all the way to follow-up experiments.
