At the FGCZ, Dr. Russo is mainly involved in the development of statistical and computational resources for the analysis of DNA structural variations via sequencing with high-throughput instruments (particularly third generation technologies), bioinformatics of denovo genome assembly and transcriptomics analysis.
Prior to joining the FGCZ in December 2011, Giancarlo has received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cardiff University (2009) and worked as Associate Researcher at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics (2009-2011) at Cardiff University, School of Medicine.
