Carl Borrebaeck Professor and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Lund University Prof. Carl Borrebaeck is chairman of the Department of Immunotechnology, Lund University and program Director of the Strategic Center for Translational Cancer Research – CREATE Health (www.createhealth.lth.se). He received the first chair as professor of Immunotechnology in Scandinavia 1989. His main research interests are cancer proteomics, for early detection and prognosis, and antibody engineering, for the generation of human therapeutic antibodies. He is a permanent member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and deputy vice chancellor of Lund University, with a special responsibility for its innovation system. He received the AKZO Nobel Science Award 2009, for his contributions to cancer proteomics and antibody-based therapy. Prof. Borrebaeck spent a sabbatical year at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation 1996-97 and did his post-doctoral training at the University of California in Davis. He received his Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in 1979. His research has resulted in several spin-out companies, such as BioInvent International AB, Alligator Bioscience AB, Immunovia AB and SenzaGen AB.
Bertrand Jordan Director, Marseille-Nice Genopole Bertrand R Jordan (CNRS emeritus research director, ret.), an academic molecular biologist with particular achievements in the field of molecular immunology, is the founder and coordinator of the Marseille-Nice Genopole genomics consortium and counselor to the CoreBio-PACA technical platform organisation. An early contributor to DNA array development since 1995, he is also a consultant for French (Ipsogen), Dutch (PamGene) and Taiwanese (Phalanx, Dr. Chip) microarray companies, that operate in fields ranging from prognostic and predictive expression profiling in breast cancer, to “companion diagnostics” based on multiplex kinase activity measurement, and to efficient bacterial diagnostics in the food industry. He recently coordinated a book, “Microarrays in diagnostics and biomarker development” (Springer, 2012)
