Metabomeeting 2014 Workshop

Complementary NMR and MS Solutions to Solve the “Metabolomics Puzzle” Workshop

10 Sep 2014 in London, UK, 1.00pm - 1.45pm

http://www.bruker.com/
Novel LC-QTOF based metabolomics workflows to determine and identify potential biomarkers in the early onset of diabetes

Modern LC-QTOF-MS/MS instruments enable “one shot acquisitions”, providing qualitative and quantitative results for large sequences of complex metabolomics samples. Examples will be presented highlighting combined non-targeted and pathway driven targeted metabolomics making use of the same high resolution LC-MS data set. Combined with a novel human metabolome MS/MS library this leads the way to seamlessly detect and identify potential biomarkers.

Metabolomics - from Research Tool to Products

The success of Metabolomics in the long run will be judged on the fact, that scientific results could be turned into applicable analytical or diagnostic tools.  Are there clinical diagnostic routines developed to the benefit of the patient and the health care system in general, which is experiencing more and more cost pressure due to the increasing average life span. Another type of product are tools for Food Quality and safety control, which help the consumer as well as the producer. Examples are given for emerging products in both areas mentioned and their potential for the future.
