This market report summarizes the results of HTStec’s global pharma and biotech web-based benchmarking survey on label-free (LF) binding analysis carried out in March 2008.
The study was initiated to gain a better understanding of the market requirements for label free technologies used in the study of biomolecular interactions. The aims were to document the main challenges faced by groups applying binding analysis; their status with regard to the search for new technology; to understand their willingness to change workflows and to identify unmet needs.
The survey looked at the following aspects of LF detection with respect to binding analysis; current level of use and degree of familiarity with LF systems; current awareness and perception of LF technologies/suppliers/systems; current status of ownership of LF detection systems; types of analyses and information wanted; main benefits of LF detection; plans to purchase new LF detection systems; throughput and price per data point requirements; role of LF in multiplexed assays. In some of the questions feedback was obtained for 2008 with best estimate for 2010.
