Janneke Weiss, Head NGS Facility, VU University Medical Center

Janneke Weiss

Dr. Weiss has Large experience in interpretation of genetic data, both sequence variants as well as copy number variations, in a clinical diagnostic setting. As the head of diagnostic facility , NIPT unit and Bioinformatics at VU University Medical Center, The Netherlands she is Responsible for different innovation and implementation projects concerning technical improvements (targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS), microarray, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), diagnostic exome sequencing, diagnostic whole genome sequencing, liquid biopsy by NGS). Last finished and successful project was TRIDENT-2 (http://www.meerovernipt.nl/): setting up NIPT for all pregnant woman in The Netherlands. Within this project she was responsible for setting up the NIPT facility at the VUMC in Amsterdam, this facility is running and is processing 120 samples a day.

Presently she is also Chair of the Next Generation Sequencing working group of the Dutch Council of Clinical Genetic Laboratories (VKGL) and External auditor for BELAC (Belgium Accreditation).
