The presentation will describe work-flows for scalable purification of bioengineered EVs, down-stream vesicular analytics and application of such EVs in therapeutic contexts.

Joel Nordin, Research Fellow, Karolinska Institutet

Joel Nordin

Joel Nordin received his MD and his PhD (both 2017) in Cell and Gene Therapy at Karolinska Institutet mainly working with EVs. After a postdoctoral stint at Karolinska Institutet, he moved to the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry in Tokyo, Japan to work with therapeutic extracellular vesicles (EVs) against neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases. He is furthermore continuing his clinical career, part-time, in Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine. He is now back at Karolinska Institutet pursuing to start his own research group focusing on novel cellular and EV-based therapies within the field of Clinical Immunology. In addition, Joel is a senior consultant for Evox Therapeutics, a company developing engineered EVs for treatment of genetic diseases.
