Kristen Johansen, Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology

Kristen M. Johansen graduated with honors in 1982 with a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, received a Rotary Graduate Fellowship for one-year study at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry, and was awarded an NSF Graduate Fellowship to pursue her doctoral studies in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, receiving her Ph.D. from Yale University in 1989. She was appointed Assistant Professor at Iowa State University in 1992 where she is currently Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics & Molecular Biology. She was a recipient of the NSF CAREER award and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for the journal Fly.
