Volker Kurz,
Researcher
Volker Kurz received his Master’s degree in Physics at the University of New York at Buffalo in 2007 and his Ph.D. degree in 2011 from the University Heidelberg. For his dissertation, Volker built a sum-frequency spectrometer and characterizing polymer/water interfaces in situ. Upon his completion of his Ph.D. studies in 2011, he has been conducting his postdoctoral research at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He is currently researching single molecule analysis using solid-state nanopores and optical microscopy in conjunction with microfluidic devices in order to electroporate cells. He also assists fellow postdoctoral researchers in bioengineering, by utilizing optical tweezers to assemble artificial tissues cell-by-cell.
