Daniel Carvalho,
Research Fellow
Daniel Carvalho is a PhD student at the Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine (MERLN), The Netherlands, where he develops new organ-on-a-chip platforms for the Horizon 2020 SCREENED project. Daniel obtained his Integrated Masters in Bioengineering at the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2016. Since then, he was interested in understanding the effects of near-weightlessness in biological systems and has participated in multiple educational programs of the European Space Agency (ESA). After completing his Masters degree, Daniel worked as a research assistant in the field of gravitational cell biology at Otto von Guericke Magdeburg University (Germany) and Aarhus University (Denmark), where he joined the scientific team of the CellBox-2 spaceflight mission (SpaceX CRS13).
