Ilhyong Ryu,
Professor
Professor Ilhyong Ryu received his PhD degree from Osaka University, Japan. After serving as JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate at Osaka University, he was appointed as Assistant Professor at Osaka University in 1988 and promoted to Associate Professor in 1995. During the period, he spent a year at University of Ottawa as Visiting Scientist (1991-1992). In 2000 he moved to Osaka Prefecture University as Full Professor of Department of Chemistry. Since 2016, he has been a Professor of Organization of Research Promotion and a Chair Professor at National Chiao Tung University, Department of Applied Chemistry in Taiwan. He has been the recipient of prestigious awards and honors which include the Progress Award in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan (1990), the Chemical Society of Japan Award for Creative Work (2004), Fellow of the Royal Chemical Society (2005), the Dohgane Award of the Kinki Chemical Society (2008), ISOFT 2009 Award (2009), and Society Award for Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan (2014). His research interests include new synthetic methodologies based on radical reactions, catalysis, green reaction media, and flow chemistry.
